Reflecting on the Past, anticipating the Future!
It is afternoon, as I sit in my favorite chair, with a hot cup of coffee pondering a brand-new year. I enjoy opening a new calendar and wondering what fun things will cross my path this year. But in the wondering it is good to take a few minutes to look back at what has passed.
What started out as a simple January remodel turned into a full-blown kitchen, dining room and bed & breakfast makeover to pass inspection and become a licensed Missouri Lodge. In May, we also passed the Bed & Breakfast Inns of Missouri inspection and became members of that organization. It was hard work but we are thankful to be a state inspected and licensed lodge as well as an inspected & approved BBIM member. One of only two in the Northwest Region of Missouri! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!
Theater goers, family groups, sweethearts & history buffs, along with a few weary travelers, kept the Inn hopping from April clear into October. Dinner at the Inn was enjoyed by many and Ardee and I were glad to be able to offer this service to our guests. We even enjoyed a few impromptu gatherings around the piano. You just never know what you might experience here at the Inn.
Ardee was able to put a new roof on the main level deck in October and those of you that follow our updates know that this is a pre-requisite for the future screened in area on the Inn’s lower deck. Progress…
December found us with two weeks of guests for the Christmas Carol and we ended with guests on New Year’s Eve which meant a Happy New Year 2020 Breakfast at the Inn!
It’s evident that time got away from me and I was not able to keep up with the monthly emails or social media as I had hoped. I apologize, yet am thankful that not only did we enjoy many repeat customers last year we had the opportunity to welcome many new guests. We lost count of the 1st Anniversaries along with several 50th Anniversaries celebrated here in 2019. Ardee and I agree that we host some of the best guests and truly look forward to beginning this new year!
What will 2020 bring? I’m not sure yet but there will be some improvements in both the surroundings and the food. I’ve got my cookbooks out and my sewing machine dusted off so be sure to watch for upcoming emails. And Ardee? Well you just never know what he is going to create or remodel.
Here's to a Happy & Healthy 2020. See you soon!
